Journey to Mars

Reflection: This artifact is a lesson plan about the planet Mars. This is a journey through Mars that touches different approaches to teach different kinds of learners. There is a reading section of the lesson plan for auditory learners. There is tactile section where the student where these learners will be able to use their skill through inquiry. The diversity of this lesson accommodates many learning styles and levels of learning. This lesson has not been performed but when it is student will gain a new outlook on planetary science. This artifact is evidence for standard three: Diverse Learner because it creates instructional opportunities that are adapted to diverse learners.

Rounding Rap

Reflection: This artifact is a rap that helps with learning how to round numbers.  This was shared this with our fourth grade teachers to help students learn how to round. We have used this rap with great success when teaching rounding and estimating. I usually make each student an individual copy to keep in his/her math folder plus I have a poster sized copy on the wall. This rap is very effective almost every student understood rounding within the first lesson it was taught. This artifact is evidence for standard three: Diverse Learners because it shows that the teacher understands students differ in their approaches to learning.

Reflection: This artifact is a Math lesson plan. This lesson plan was teaching students how to divide using partial quotients. Many of the students in the class have come a long way with their multiplication facts. They know them well enough to perform large division problem that would involve partial quotients and finding multiples. However, there are a few students who are behind for various reasons and have not mastered their multiplication facts; even though they are in the fourth grade. Within this lesson special accommodations are made for these students because will no be able to learn how to divide using partial quotients. I think the next time I teach this lesson I will have the students listen to the explanation of partial quotients before sending them off to do individual work because they will at least have the procedure for the problem they have to work on their multiplication to be able to do it individually. This artifact is evidence to standard three: Diverse Learner because it shows that the teacher understands that students differ in their approaches to learning.

Reflection: This artifact is a Reading lesson plan for a class that has students are various reading levels. All the students are reading the same story but have accommodations and challenges according to their personal reading level. The main concepts are taught as a whole group; however, independent work and individual thoughts are taught in differentiated groupings. Accommodations are made for those that are lower level reading and challenges are made for proficient readers. This artifact shows evidence for standard three: Divers Learner because the teacher creates instructional opportunities that are adapted to diverse learners.
